Julia E. Hughes, MHA, BSN, BS, RN, CNOR, CLNC

With 35 years of nursing, supervisory, and leadership experience, Ms. Hughes is a seasoned
professional in the healthcare field. Her expertise spans direct patient care, healthcare
administration policies, and management roles. Over 25 years of her career were dedicated to the
operating room, where she accumulated hundreds of thousands of hours working on both the
East and West coasts of the U.S. Her reputation as a self-directed leader with exceptional
problem-solving, communication, and management skills precedes her.

Throughout her extensive nursing career, Ms. Hughes has held various roles, including achieving
the rank of Lt Col in the Air Force Reserves and serving as the Director of Surgical Services at
Fallbrook Hospital. Her 22 years as a Flight Nurse in the Air Force Reserves equipped her with
adaptability and resilience, allowing her to excel in diverse patient care conditions. The Air
Force experience also honed her attention to detail, ability to remain calm under pressure, and
proficiency in verbal and written communication—skills highly valuable to legal nurse experts.

Since 2003, Ms. Hughes has been a Legal Nurse Consultant, working on cases for attorneys across Southern California. She is a recognized nurse expert for the California Board of Nursing,
having authored over 20 nurse expert opinions and testified as an expert witness. Whether
representing plaintiffs or defense, Ms. Hughes ensures that nursing standards of care are met.

Currently, Ms. Hughes works in the peri-operative setting, staying abreast of healthcare issues
relevant to her areas of expertise. Her knowledge extends to Infection Control, The Joint
Commission, Nursing Standard of Care, and healthcare Policy and Procedures for hospitals and
freestanding surgery centers.
